Abstract
A completed RS-232 to GPIB interfacing system has been built for HX-40 to master the GPIB oriented machine through its serial port. GPIB commands and data can be transfered between HX-40 and the slave station, which is a HP 3582A spectrum analyzer in this project. The data acquisition from serial to GPIB is done by a well-made GPNET mode 10 interfacing board in a transmitting rate of 9600 baud rate. GPNET exchanges data and commands with HX-40 through a RS-232 port, and passes them to the slave station through a GPIB port which is coordinated by GPIB protocol. A software driver has been made to provide user friendly keyboard controlled menu and users can furnish series of commands by the aid of the menu driver. The special feature of the system is the computer controlled data transmitting and processing; HX-40 can gain the final data from the slave instrument, and processes them in any form user required. Applications to the HP 3582A spectrum analyzer system are presented in which the instrument capabilities are significantly enhanced.
