Abstract
Title VII forbids certain kinds of discrimination in employment and establishes a federal forum to enforce employee's rights. It means an employer discriminates against any individual in hiring or discharging, because of such individual's race, color, religion, sex, or national origin.
It has been a long time to use Title VII in unlawful practice employment. Therefore, in my thesis, I investigate the development of labor law, special for the development of Title VII of the Civil Right Act of 1964. Secondly, I emphasize on the individual and union that they can effectively make use of their rights under Title VII.
The effective of the union Title VII grievance procedures is dependent on how the union assist the employee to against the employer when he or she is discriminated. The empirical studies on the union Title VII grievance procedures are analyzed, since they refer specifically to the grievance procedures of the employee against the employer during the course of discrimination.
