Abstract
Standard time is the time required for a qualified and well trained person, working at a normal pace, to do a specific task. In the past, determining it has entailed repeated tedious calculations using a calculator, tables and charts. To reduce this effort and at the same time increase the accuracy of the time study, a method that uses a microcomputer and a spreadsheet software package has been designed. Using this technique, the industrial engineer performs the normal stopwatch measurements and then inputs the data to the microcomputer, which provides the standard time. This article discusses the application, including hardware, software, formulas, and calculations.
