Description

Figure 9.31: Transition table with a critical race condition. Initially the system is in state a and the input changes from 0 to 1. If both state variables change at the same time, the system immediately transitions to state d. If the most significant bit of the state changes first, the system transitions to state c and then to state d. However, if the least significant bit of the state changes first, the system transitions to state b and remains in that state.
