Abstract
A model for the correlation and prediction of heats of mixing of hydrogen-bonded mixtures is presented. The model incorporates a UNIFAC term to describe the physical interactions and a chemical term to account for the hydrogen bonding contribution. The model is applied to binary and tertiary mixtures of normal, isomeric, substituted, and multihydroxy alcohols with a variety of solvents. Thirteen interaction parameters are determined. For the temperature range 0 to 100°C typical errors of ±10% are obtained.
