Abstract
The accurate design of chemical processing plants is important to the chemical engineer. The original version of CHESS (Chemical Engineering Simulation System) greatly reduced the amount of time which previously had to be spent on the design of such plants by providing the engineer with a package which simulated some of the more common pieces of chemical processing equipment found in a typical chemical plant.
The present version of the Chemical Engineering Simulation System (CHESS2) presents a significant improvement over the original version. The improvement was achieved by expanding the thermodynamic package, offering the user a choice of methods by which the required thermodynamic properties could be calculated. The improved program is more accurate over a wider range of conditions. s
