Abstract

This thesis deals with the computational methods for kinematics of mechanisms using matrix methods. The method is particularly suited to the complex mechanism problems for which hand calculations are difficult. The thesis first reviews the matrix methods on which the program IMP is based. A computer program developed by Ve Tung using the same theory is enhanced in this thesis. By using this revised program, comparison between the non-linear algebraic approach and the matrix methods developed in this thesis has been made by the help of suitable examples. Further, it has been proved that the Integrated Mechanisms Program does not give correct results for dynamic analysis of linkages.
