Abstract

The existing wear and friction theories, and wear testing methods have been analysed to meet the objective of this study. One of the key factors in the analysis of a wear problem is the computation of wear and friction coefficient for a material, under real operating conditions. A new wear testing methodology has been developed and a wear tester has been designed and assembled. The tests have been performed at constant sliding speed and different applied loads for a Cast-Iron - hardened Steel pair.
