Abstract

The future outlook of any corporation depends upon the resourcefulness of those who manage the planning and operating functions of the business. Time and accuracy are two critical criteria in effective managerial reports for decision making. The electronic computer is a welcome addition into the industry. While its applications to payroll, accounting, sales, and inventory have been extensive, computing has nevertheless been criticized. This study concentrates on determining the impact computing has had on the managers and especially on the people working in the organization from clerks to the top level management.

While an investigation of the existing literature was essential in developing insight into this field, the administration of survey was done to obtain data on current use. The area of research was limited to the top twenty-five organizations within the tri-state areas with the aid of nail questionnaires and selective interviews, information was secured, analysed; and organized in a manner leading to meaningful conclusions and recommendations.

The object of this thesis is to provide information on the use of computers within the organization and to explore the impact of this technology within the organizations. This new technology has not only affected the managers but also the organization as a whole.
