Abstract
Up to now relatively few tests have been reported on shear behavior in fiber reinforced concrete beams. Even less experiments have been carried out under fatigue loading. In the present experiment, the reinforced concrete beams with 1 percent and 2 percent steel fiber volume fraction are investigated. Conventional stirrups are included in number of beams at certain intervals. Beams are loaded under monotonic and cyclic loads. The strength of beams are determined and the behavior of beams under each loading are observed in order to determine some advantages of adding steel fibers to reinforced concrete beams.
It has been found that in static experiment, the failure of beams is mainly due to pulling out of fibers. Toughness is highly increased as compared to reinforced concrete beam alone but the ultimate loading capacity increased by only a negligible amount. In fatigue experiment, the number of loading cycle at the given range of loading is increased as compared to reinforced concrete beam. The higher displacement at the center of the beam is also observed.
