Abstract
Input and output sampling, in addition to computer simulations, are now an integral part of system identification. In this thesis, the concept of analyzing any time invariant continuous deterministic system will be developed by identifying a linear discrete - time system equivalent to the continuous one. In this method, two computer programs are written in pascal. The first program applies the Recursive Least Squares Method to discrete - time systems in order to estimate the system components. The second program estimates the future output of the system. Four systems have then identified using the programs.
In this process, system identification is defined, the discrete - time system is described, the mathematical model of a discrete - time system is explained, and the recursive least squares method is defined and applied to the discrete - time system.
