Abstract
Based on four stereo images, a new concept of unified optical flow field has been developed recently [3]. It is a generalization of the optical flow in stereo imagery. A set of fundamental equations is established to characterize the unified optical flow field. Another set of equations is then derived from which 3-D structure can be reconstructed and its motion can be analyzed by the use of the unified optical flow field quantities. In this thesis, we use some synthetic images of a rotated conical structure to study and test the theoretical results. The simulation and results are presented, thus demonstrating the validity of the newly developed technique for the 3-D position recovery and motion analysis.
