Abstract

The use of an expert system for the heating distribution network is an application of artificial intelligence to the domain of energy engineering.

The development of an expert system for a heating distribution network is explained. The expert system is implemented through the software Kee. The expert system is used to monitor the heating distribution network, and to complement some functions of the controls such as balancing the system pressure, stabilizing output, in addition to fault diagnosis, system process simulation. It serves also as a medium to system moniting, and operator training. Many other functions will be developed on the basis of the expert system to facilitate operator and system intercommunication with internal system or using the TellAndAsked facilities of the Kee software.

The expert system for the heating distribution network will improve the distribution of energy, and the management of energy because the optimal control process can be carried out through the expert system. The expert system analyzes the data which are continuously collected and whenever necessary prompts and helps the operator to make the proper decisions.
