Abstract

Technologies of environmental engineering are moving at a rapid pace. Frequent environmental disasters and stringent environmental protection are challenging the scientific domain today. In such a crucial juncture of scientific history, material science and polymer science needs to be readdressed and re-envisioned. In this treatise, the authors pointedly focuses on the success of application of biopolymers in environmental protection. This paper touches on the application of biopolymers as adsorbents for organic pollutants, modified biopolymers for organic pollutants and green materials for environment. The vision of science and the widening vision of technology today are ushering in a new era in the field of polymers and material science. The author deeply focuses on the recent scientific endeavor in the field of biotechnology, biopolymers, biocomposites and bioplastics. The immense scientific prowess of biotechnology and the wide vision of material science are veritably leading a long way in the emancipation of environmental engineering science today.
