Abstract
The suppoting capacity of foundations in and on carbonate formations is considerably influenced by 1) the location and extent of cavities under them and 2) the quality and thickness of bridging material between the foundation and the sinkholes. Percussion probing is a fast and economic method of obtaining design data in such a case. In this paper, through case histories, a technique of designing foundation in karst regions using percussive probe penetration rates is presented. -from Authors
