Abstract
A subsurface exploration has to be performed under each foundation. Conventional techniques such as borings are too expensive and slow. Geophysical methods do not yield absolute subsurface information. Percussion probing is a fast and economical method of obtaining design data in such a case. In this paper, through case histories, a technique of designing foundation in karst regions using percussive probe penetration rates is presented.
