Abstract
In this paper, a method of performing a probability study for selected areas in Warren and Somerset Counties, New Jersey, U. S. A. is presented. This method is based on field reconnaissance, the review of geological literature pertinent to the areas, and the application of Poisson's distribution. A subsurface investigation using percussion drilled holes is used to verify the probability as determined by Poisson's distribution at the Somerset County site.
