Abstract
The New Jersey Inst of Technology has developed a robotics consortium involving NJIT and several companies. The consortium is funded by industry, and NJIT faculty provide the research expertise for the projects presently being undertaken in applied robotics research. The consortium has been in operation for three years and the resources of the consortium include ten industrial robots, four CNC devices and other related devices. The consortium emphasizes applied research and solutions to technology transfer problems currently faced in industry. A major objective is to increase productivity through factory automation. This paper discusses the development and growth of the consortium including the areas of research presently being addressed, as well as the training and resources available.
