Abstract
The behavior and design of reinforced concrete joints using special materials such as polymer concrete and high strength concrete are described. There is a presentation of test results of fourteen beam column joints: regular concrete, polymer concrete, and high strength concrete. The benefits of adding fibers are also shown for each different joint cementing material. All design considerations and construction techniques are addressed. From this beam column joint test series, it was shown that, with the use of high strength and polymer concrete and/or fibers in the joint region, a more superior joint was developed than the conventional reinforced concrete joint.
