Abstract

This thesis uses FORTRAN programs to compute the maximum shear stresses of the cylindrical pressure vessel with various heads. They are cylindrical, spherical, ellipsoidal, flat and conic shapes. Also the maximum shear stresses for the bimetallic joints at the vessel wall and away from the vessel wall are analyzed. Numerical examples are given for each case to facilitate the applications.
