Abstract

Engineered nanomaterials (ENMs) for industrial use are surpassing wide and versatile scientific frontiers. Material science and nanotechnology are the versatile domains of science and engineering which are surpassing wide scientific boundaries. Technological and scientific vision, scientific grit, and scientific understanding are all leading the way in the true emancipation of material science and ENMs application today. In this chapter the authors deeply comprehend the immense scientific potential, the scientific candor, and scientific background behind the application of ENMs today. The authors in this chapter delineate various ENMs based on types of materials such as carbon black, carbon nanotubes, dendrimers, fullerenes, graphene sheets, metal oxides, metals, nanoarrays, nanocrystals, nanowires, and quantum dots. These ENMs are discussed in detail in this chapter. In addition, various ENMs based on dimensions such as nanofilms, nanoplates, nanotubes and nanowires are discussed. Technological vision and profundity are witnessing dramatic challenges. In this chapter, the authors pointedly focus on the success of ENMs with the sole aim of the furtherance of science and engineering. The authors also focus on the definite vision behind the application of material science as a whole. Nanotechnology, energy, and environmental sustainability are the other pillars of this well researched chapter. The entire focus of this chapter is replete with scientific vision and scientific introspection. Nanotechnology and material science are today opening up new windows of scientific innovation. The authors deeply comprehend the recent advances and future trends in the application of nanotechnology and material science with the sole scientific vision toward progress in science and technology.
