Abstract
Environmental engineering science is moving fast from one paradigm to another. Chemical process engineering and material science are the newer avenues of deep scientific understanding. The vision and the challenges of science and engineering in today's world are immense and far-reaching. Grave concerns for environment, ecological imbalance and destruction of biodiversity are the forerunners and the torchbearers of a greater emancipation of environmental science and the true realization of environmental sustainability. In this treatise, the authors have thoroughly analyzed the application of nanomaterials in environmental protection and its immense scientific potential. Environmental science stands amid deep comprehension and immense scientific forbearance. Today, environment is in a state of deep distress. The immediate need of the hour is application of nanotechnology in environmental science. The progress of science, the forays into engineering, and the wide scientific rigor are all leading a long way in the effective application of nanotechnology in environment protection.
