Abstract

Zero waste manufacturing (ZWM), or waste-free manufacturing, is a theoretical word that is in demand among almost all the top-notch manufacturing domains, all across the world. The emphasis of ZWM is not only to benefit the manufacturing industries to boost their yield and profit but also to help the societies to maintain their surroundings clean and hygienic. On the other hand, it is a fact that the complete elimination of in-process waste is almost impossible no matter what level of manufacturing facility is in use; however, with the realm of ZWM, the in-process manufacturing waste of one type of facility could possibly be considered as raw feedstock of another type of facility, even interdisciplinary. The prime focus of this chapter is to discuss the various prospective of ZWM and to discuss the most innovative practical implication of the ZWM concepts. The overall aim of the chapter is to motivate the manufacturing enterprises to follow ZWM practices to receive the ultimate benefits of the same.
