Abstract
The science and engineering of nanotechnology and nanomaterials are in a period of intense growth. Environmental protection and environmental engineering science are also experiencing similar growth due to the prevalence of environmental disasters, global climate change, and loss of ecological biodiversity. Functionalized nanomaterials are the smart materials of today. Nanomaterials and engineered nanomaterials are changing the face of scientific regeneration globally today. This chapter presents recent and future aims material science and nanotechnology. Today the world of nanomaterials and material science is focused on applications of functionalized nanomaterials in diverse areas such as food, energy, and environment. As discussed in this chapter, this area of science is also aimed at addressing sustainability to ensure the future of mankind.
