Abstract
Stability analysis of Power System is performed to understand and analyze its behaviour under variant conditions. Power System Stabilizer (PSS) is employed in Generators to maintain its stability under fault conditions. Transient stability analysis is performed to analyze performance of PSS under transient fault condition. While such analysis cannot be performed on the field, simulation software such as ETap, Power World Simulator etc. allows such analysis on test systems such as Nine Bus System which are designed to evaluate different components of the system under different conditions. Different genetic algorithms and optimization algorithms have been used in previous works to tune the frequency of PSS. In this paper, I propose tuning the frequency of PSS using frequency response approach that uses the frequency of the system under transient condition, and also compare the results obtained with that of other algorithms. Power World Simulator simulation software has been used to design Three Machine Nine Bus System with PSS1A and perform Transient Stability Analysis on the same.
