Abstract
As a consequence of rapid and extensive use of explosive materials to threaten the mankind, it is the need of the hour to have tremendously sensitive, portable, rapid and real-time monitoring detectors/sensor to detect, identify and discriminate several explosives. Accordingly, the present chapter deals with an overview of various smartphone based explosive detection systems which are highly susceptible, quick and can effectively and selectively detect the explosive materials instantaneously. Various types of explosive materials and their detection systems with particular focus on several spectroscopic techniques have also been summarized. Few recent studies involving electrochemiluminescence-based smartphone detection, fluorescence-based smartphone detection, smartphone based explosive vapor detection system and smartphone based colorimetric sensing devices for insightful and discerning detection of explosives has been comprehensively discussed.
