Abstract

Fairness is a concept that has both technical and social meaning. In the specific case of quantitative measurement in education, it is important that both restricted and broad perspectives of fairness are acknowledged—and resonances between them identified—so that current and future research can be understood in terms of evidence-based principles. These principles, in turn, can then be used to suggest implications for future research involving educational fairness as understood through an empirical lens.
