Abstract
A Soave-type temperature function has been introduced into the Martin equation of state, and the resulting equation has been applied to the calculation of vapor-liquid equilibria and of molar volumes of coexisting phases. In comparing the Martin equation to the Soave-Redlich-Kwong equation, it was found that vapor-liquid equilibria are predicted equally well by the two equations, but that the Martin equation is considerably more accurate in predicting liquid volumes of mixtures considered in this study. Vapor volumes calculated with the Martin equation were likewise found to be more accurate than those obtained with the Soave-RK equation. © 1981, American Chemical Society. All rights reserved.
