Abstract
Robots, while not new are offering a new challenge in the applications area. The future robots will be more highly sophisticated and use voice control, have multiple sensing devices, information feedback, be capable of some decision making, have vision, have multiple arms and more accurate motion repeatability. Computer numerical control (CNC) is now an old science and many different types of machines are computer controlled. The challenge of the future is to take all these individual high technology developments and tie them together into a working system as a manufacturing cell or into a computer controlled automated system.
