Abstract
The author illustrates the enhancement of productivity through mathematical programming techniques, especially, the goal programming. Others, such as linear programming, can be utilized in optimizing productivity provided that the constraints of these LP models are not conflicting with each other. Various mathematical programming models with the incorporation of a productivity measurement scheme as the objective function or a constraint are developed to show different aspects of productivity attainability. Numerical examples are provided for these models to depict the possibility of productivity achievement and some valuable information for managers in their decision making process.
