Abstract
The paper describes the objectives of the ASCE Student Chapter Program and assesses the effectiveness of this program as an educational tool. This assessment is aided by reviewing, in summary form, the reported activities of the 198 Student Chapters during the 1982 calendar year. These reports consist of statistical data sheets summarizing meeting frequency, meeting topics and attendance, chapter membership, and so forth. The reports also consist of subjective statements, activity descriptions and documentation such as minutes, field trip descriptions, copies of student papers, photographs, newspaper clippings, and correspondence.
