Abstract
EKG CHALLENGER is a computer-assisted instructional (CAI) program designed to teach, improve and test electrocardiogram (EKG) reading skills. It is intended for use by students of the health professions, biomedical engineers, and laypersons who wish to acquire EKG reading skills. The program has two modes of operation. Tutorial mode simultaneously presents text screens and EKG strips which teach the user how to interpret strips of progressively increasing difficulty. The challenger mode tests the user's ability to properly interpret EKGs and offer remedial help when a strip is misinterpreted. Topics covered by the program include measurement of heart rate, recognition of arrhythmias, and effects of drugs and electrolyte imbalance. EKG CHALLENGER will run on IBM PCs and compatibles.
