Abstract
Many surveyors who needed to work with the state plane coordinate systems from NAD'27 have used projection tables published by USCGS and later by NGS. Recently, NGS has published projection tables for NAD'83 but only for the Lambert Conformal Conic (LCC) projection. Surveyors in states (such as New Jersey) who need to use the Transverse Mercator (TM) projection have expressed a strong interest in having such projection tables at their disposal. This paper discusses the need for such projection tables, the alternative ways to derive them and some practical usage considerations. An example of TM tables for NAD'83 which have been developed for the state of New Jersey is presented and discussed. -Author
