Abstract

The effect of machine saturation on small disturbance stability of a power system whose machine excitation is controlled by a fast-acting three-term automatic voltage regulator (AVR) has been investigated. It is seen that the system's stability limits were practically unaffected but the optimum settings of the AVR gain control parameters were affected significantly at the higher operating conditions. © 1991.
