Abstract
In this paper we present discrete element calculations of gravity-free Couette flow of smooth, inelastic spheres between parallel, bumpy walls. Calculations of the wall shear and normal stresses and slip velocities over a range of solids fractions indicate that the results are highly sensitive to the arrangement and relative size of the boundary particles as well as the wall gap spacing and restitution coefficient. © 1992, Elsevier B.V.
