Abstract
Local heat transfer for turbulent flow with zero pressure gradient for moderate-to-high Reynolds numbers has been calculated, based on the concept of power-law velocity and temperature profiles, and reliance on asymptotic formulas for the extremes of the parameters involved. The results obtained have been compared with the available exact solutions, experimental findings, and some well-known interpolation formulas. The effect of sudden wall-temperature increase and of the Prandtl number on the thermal boundary-layer thickness, and on the local heat transfer has been emphasized in calculations.
