Abstract
The intermediate-joint displacements of a Myard (RCRCR) constant-velocity shaft coupling are investigated by means of a numerical scheme using 3×3 dual-number coordinate-transformation matrices. The translations in the cylindrical joints, and the rotations in the cylindrical and the central revolute joints, are all found to be single-frequency in character with amplitudes increasing with greater bend in the driveline. Insights are obtained to guide the engineer in designing practical Myard constant-velocity couplings.
