Abstract
The disk arm is a valuable resource whose scheduling is gaining importance. Some scheduling policies that use lookahead to improve the performance of CSCAN and SATF policies are proposed. By distinguishing reads and writes and giving higher priority to reads conditionally in SATF, a policy that improves performance considerably with respect to a policy which simply prioritizes the processing of reads is proposed.
