Abstract
Basic concepts of sample preparation are presented with view of its role in the overall measurement process. Errors associated quantitative analysis, and important figures of merit, such as, accuracy, precision, sensitivity, method detection limit, range of quantitation, and finally method validation are discussed from a sample preparation perspective. A discussion on sample preservation is followed by quality control issues pertaining to sample preparation.
