Abstract
A study was made to determine if the profitability of a converting company could be improved by expanding its engineering department. Process challenges were examined along with the present engineering function to determine difficulties. A case study of capital budget projects completed in the last three years revealed that potential savings were lost due to late and incomplete projects. The conclusion is that profitability can De increased through process control improvements and more timely completion of capital projects by expanding the present engineering department.
