Abstract
The goal of Preventive Maintenance is to reduce operating costs through greater equipment availability and lower downtime costs. Its intention is also to reduce the frequency and severity of corrective maintenance. A case study of a chemical manufacturing plant in the pharmaceutical industry is reviewer and symptoms are illustrated for purposes of definition. The development and implementation of a Preventive Maintenance program for this chemical manufacturing plant is proposed.
