Abstract

In numerous sectors of scientific research and industrial applications, quality assurance, analytical parameters, and inter-laboratory studies play critical roles in guaranteeing the accuracy of analytical data, reliability, and comparability. These procedures are especially decisive in the case of environmental analysis of organic contaminants. Quality assurance is a collection of processes and procedures to verify that analytical results and findings fulfil specific quality requirements. The particular traits, variables, or elements assessed or controlled during an analysis are referred to as analytical parameters. These parameters differ according to the type of analysis performed. Inter-laboratory studies, also known as proficiency testing or round-robin testing, include numerous laboratories participating to examine the consistency and comparability of analytical data across various facilities. The objective of this chapter is to focus on quality assurance, analytical parameters, and inter-laboratory research for identifying environmental pollutants such as trace organic molecules. An overview is also presented on various aspects of sample collection and storage. Further, challenges and future perspectives in quality assurance, analytical parameters, and inter-laboratory research are also highlighted in detail. It is anticipated that this chapter could be useful in understanding the importance of quality assurance, analytical parameters, inter-laboratory studies associated with environmental research and monitoring.
