Abstract
Since the carbon nanomaterials have unique features such as excellent mechanical, chemical, and thermal stabilities, large surface area, great optical features, lower density, etc., they are extensively used in the fabrication of novel functional materials. On the other hand, graphene was discovered in 2004 by Professor Andre Geim and Professor Kostya Novoselov from the University Manchester. Since then, so much efforts were put into the design and development of new graphene-based functional materials. This chapter discusses various synthesis methods of graphene and it summarize and highlights the recent progresses in the design and development of graphene-based nanomaterials and their applications in different fields mainly sensors, separators, drug delivery, and bioimaging.
