Abstract
A model is proposed that can predict the fully developed mass transfer coefficient for a turbulent flowing fluid in a smooth tube. Model results are compared to experimental data over a range of Reynolds number from 7750 to 50,200 and for Schmidt numbers of 850, 900, and 2400. Also, the model prediction is compared to an existing correlation that was derived from experimental data. In all cases the model prediction is in excellent agreement with the published experimental data and is an improvement over the existing correlation. © 2003 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
