Abstract
Variable bit rate (VBR) video traffic exhibits high burstiness and long range dependence properties, which, in conjunction with the stringent quality of service (QoS) requirements, pose a great challenge in transporting video traffic over a communication network. The authors propose a QoS guaranteed bandwidth allocation for a given resource utilisation. Simulation and analytical results demonstrate that this scheme provides guaranteed delay and achieves high bandwidth utilisation. © IEE, 2004.
