Transfer coefficient of magnetoelastic materials

Abstract
The present paper approaches experimental and computational studies of the transfer power coefficient of elastic waves of some cylindrical bars from carbon steel placed in magnetic field. Using a special experimental setup including a Doppler Velocity Transducer connected to the computer by a chain of measure(including preamplifier and a data acquisition system) the experimental data of the transmission coefficient of velocity were obtained. Considering that the magnetic changes give rise to change in acoustic impedance inside of the magnetic bar we obtained by computer simulations (using transfer matrix method) the transfer power coefficient of a such finite inhomogeneous medium. The experimental data compared to the computer simulation confirm the suppozition that the main contribution in the alteration of magnetostriction is due to elastic constants modifications of the ferromagnetic material in the magnetic field.
