Abstract
This paper presents a hybrid concept hierarchy development technique for web returned documents retrieved by a meta-search engine. The technique consists of a combination of concept hierarchy generation and automatic document classification. They are combined in a streamlining fashion. At first, an automatic classification is performed on the set of retrieved web documents. Then, an individual topical concept hierarchy is automatically generated inside each of the categories from the previous step. Both steps are executed dynamically and automatically. Our evaluation shows that this technique improves the precision of the final topical concept hierarchies compared to prior studies.
