Abstract
We propose a new antenna array concept called Independently Center-fed Dipole Array (ICDA) for Ultra-Wideband (UWB) and Ultra-Short Pulse (USP) communication systems. Such antenna array is capable of minimizing non-linear phase characteristics, while maintaining flat amplitude. The characteristics of a 13-element ICDA array were numerically analyzed. By using Finite-Difference Time Domain (FDTD), we show that the workable frequency range of ICDA is the sum of all its elements' bandwidth. The transmission coefficient is linear, for both amplitude and phase, from 3.1GHz to 10.6GHz.
