Abstract
A power system state estimation algorithm using line flow measurements only is presented. The algorithm estimates the state of only one node at a time using measurements in the electrical vicinity of that node. Before any measurement is used, it is passed to a subroutine that tests for bad data. Thousands of tests were performed on the IEEE 14-bus and the IEEE 30-bus systems; results are compared with the line flow only (LFO) method. It is concluded that the proposed method is much faster than the LFO method and it can identify almost all bad data having an error greater than four times the maximum expected normal error. © 1990.
