Abstract
The performance of the CEBUS, a lo- cal area network proposed by the Electronics Industries Association for a 'Smart House is analyzed under varying network loads and traffic pat-terns. The performances of reduced complexity versions of the CEBUS scheme are compared with that of the standard CEBUS. A message’s delay in a CEBUS network, at a given network bandwidth, is dependent not only on its priority but also on the traffic priority pattern in the network. The deleterious effects of assigning too much traffic to the highest priority are quantified by simulation analysis. It was also observed that the performance of a reduced complexity scheme was comparable to that of the standard CEBUS protocol. © 1992 IEEE
